Liner Notes
Fighting is Thin Lizzy's fifth album, on which they sharpened the outline of their twin guitars and solidified their own hard rock image. The twin lead guitar lineup of Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson began to function in earnest, and the harmonized guitar interplay that would symbolize the later band was taking shape. It opens with a cover of Bob Seger's "Rosalie." It was also the first album produced by Phil Lynott himself. Robertson's aggressive guitar brought the band sharpness and momentum.
Powerful songs like "Wild One," "Suicide" and "For Those Who Love to Live" line up. Phil Lynott's singing and storytelling merge with the hard-edged riffs. This album was their first to appear on the UK Albums Chart, building a foothold toward their breakthrough. An important record on which their style, where rawness and lyricism coexist, clearly emerged. The direction established here would lead to their major breakthrough on the following Jailbreak. Combining rawness with warmth, it is a fulfilling record representative of their early years.
