Grande Rock

The third album was recorded in September 1998 and released by White Jazz on 17 May 1999, produced by the band themselves. It is where their sound moved away from the Detroit punk and garage of the first two records towards the rock of the 1970s, and Kenny Hakansson has said the reason was the room. Instead of a studio in town, they went into an old one out in the Swedish woods that had been there since the seventies, where the engineer was a man of fifty who had worked on everything from Swedish folk to Jimi Hendrix. They brought a few records along and showed him what they wanted; he knew how that sound had been made at the time, and built it the way it had been built then rather than with a pedal or a box. It is the first album made without Dregen, and with no second guitarist Anders Lindstrom and Mattias Hellberg both played guitar on it. Robert Dahlqvist was hired as the full-time lead guitarist after these sessions. It reached number ten in Sweden and thirty in Finland. On 16 February 2024 the album was reissued as Grande Rock Revisited, remixed and with new guitar parts played by Dregen. The running order here is the original release's as printed.
