To Hell With the Devil is the third album, dated 23 October 1986 by the band's own list and 24 October by Blabbermouth, released on Enigma. It was nominated for a Grammy and became the first Christian metal album to reach platinum; the RIAA certification is dated 6 January 1988. It entered the Billboard 200 on 22 November 1986, peaked at No. 32 on 7 February 1987 and stayed seventy-four weeks — the longest chart run of anything the band has made. Through 1987 the videos for "Free" and "Honestly" both reached No. 1 on MTV's most-requested list, with "Calling On You" reaching No. 2. The sleeve was not the one originally drawn. Michael Sweet's account is that the first design — angels tearing a pentagram away from Satan — was replaced with a plain black cover after Christian bookshops and distributors signalled they would not stock it.
