AFM Records released Santa Muerte on 13 September 2019. It was the first Sinner album with a permanent second lead voice, the Italian singer Giorgia Colleluori of Eternal Idol.
The label's announcement sets out how she got there. Mat Sinner hired her first as a backing vocalist on Rock Meets Classic, the arena production he directs, then put her on stage for three older Sinner songs at concerts in Australia, Japan and Germany before making her a full member. Markus Kullmann, formerly of Voodoo Circle, took the drum chair at the same time.
The guests come from the same circle. Ricky Warwick, who sings "What Went Wrong", became a friend over hours in the Rock Meets Classic tour bus; Ronnie Romero, who sings the single "Fiesta Y Copas", caught Mat Sinner's ear in 2015 at an Italian festival where Primal Fear and Romero's Lords of Black shared the bill. "Death Letter" is a cover of a 1965 blues standard and became the third single. Mat Sinner produced, with Dennis Ward co-producing, recording and mixing. It reached No. 41 in Germany and No. 89 in Switzerland.
