Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia came out on 30 October 1987 on Cogumelo Produções in Brazil as COG 009. Roadrunner handled it internationally afterwards, and Far East Metal Syndicate issued the Japanese edition on 21 January 1991 as APCY-8039. It was recorded in August 1987 at J.G. Estúdio in Belo Horizonte and produced by the band with Tarso Senra. It is the first record with Andreas Kisser on lead guitar, who brought traditional heavy metal vocabulary and a more melodic way of playing into the band. Paulo Jr. is credited on bass, though Kisser is recorded as having played some of it. Max Cavalera sings and plays rhythm guitar and Igor Cavalera plays drums. Nine tracks, 37 minutes and 49 seconds, including two instrumentals and the opening intro. The 1990 Roadrunner pressing added a re-recording of "Troops of Doom", made on 26 and 27 August that year, as a bonus. The player on this page carries the thirteen-track master of the 1998 reissue. The running order here is that of the first Brazilian pressing.
