Machine Messiah came out on 13 January 2017 on Nuclear Blast, on Sony Music in Latin America, with Chaos Reigns issuing a two-disc Japanese edition with a DVD the same day as GQCS-90261~2. It was recorded in October and November 2016 at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden, and produced by Jens Bogren, the first record the band made with him.
The subject is the robotisation of society: a machine god that made humanity, in a cycle that returns to where it began, so that the messiah, when it comes back, will be a machine or something shaped like a person.
Derrick Green sings, Andreas Kisser plays guitar, Paulo Jr. plays bass and Eloy Casagrande plays drums.
"I Am the Enemy" went out as a single on 10 November 2016. The album reached number nine on the British rock and metal chart, eleven on the American independent albums chart and twenty-seven in Germany and Switzerland.
The Japanese edition adds a cover of "Ultraseven no Uta", the theme of the 1967 Japanese television series, as a bonus track.
Spotify carries several entities of this album and not one of them will play in this territory, so this page shows the sleeve instead of a player.
