LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
It came out in Europe on 16 October 2009. The United Kingdom followed on the 19th and the United States on the 20th, and it was the band's last album for nearly a decade. The title was confirmed on 1 September 2009 in a promotional video for the single "Pussy", which was issued on 18 September; its video had appeared on an adult website two days earlier.
The record was certified platinum in Finland on pre-orders alone. It entered the French chart at number three and reached number 13 in the United States, the band's highest placing there, and in Germany it went straight to number one after the best start of any album that year.
In Germany it was then added to the federal index of media harmful to minors, over the song "Ich tu dir weh" and a photograph in the booklet showing Richard Kruspe spanking a nude woman. That meant only adults could buy it and it could not be displayed where minors could see it, so on 16 November an edited version without the song or the picture was issued there. Guitarist Paul Landers said the songs that had not made the album would appear as single B-sides, and that a special edition with five bonus tracks was coming. The running order here is the original's as printed.
