Predator in Disguise

Predator in Disguise is the second Praying Mantis studio album, released by Pony Canyon on 21 March 1991 as PCCY-00207. Ten years had passed since the first one, and in practice this is where the band started again. Japan is why. In 1990 a concert marking ten years of the new wave of British heavy metal was put together there, and the Troy brothers took the stage with Dennis Stratton and Paul Di'Anno, both formerly of Iron Maiden. What came of that night led to this album, with Gary Barden of MSG brought in to sing. Stratton settled in as the band's second guitarist from here. Eleven songs, about fifty minutes. "Can't See the Angels", "Time Slipping Away" and "Borderline" stayed in the live set afterwards and were all re-recorded for Metalmorphosis in 2011. Pony Canyon reissued it in 1998 and again in 2013. From here on, and well into the 2000s, this band's new records came out in Japan first.
