Live at Last

Live at Last is a record of one night at Nakano Sun Plaza in Tokyo in April 1990 — a concert put together in Japan to mark ten years since the new wave of British heavy metal was named, and this band's first time in front of an audience since they stopped in the mid-1980s. The title is saying exactly that. On stage with the Troy brothers were Paul Di'Anno, Iron Maiden's first singer, and Dennis Stratton, who had also been in Iron Maiden. The digital release is credited accordingly: "Praying Mantis & Paul Di'Anno, Dennis Stratton". Six of the fourteen songs are Iron Maiden's — "Wrathchild", "Murders in the Rue Morgue", "Remember Tomorrow", "Phantom of the Opera", "Iron Maiden" and "Running Free". The rest comes from Time Tells No Lies, plus "Hot Tonight" from Lionheart, Stratton's band. Two histories laid over one another in a single evening; it is the tenth-anniversary idea itself, turned into a record. The night led directly to Predator in Disguise the following year and to the band starting again in earnest. Frontiers reissued the album in 2015.
