A Cry for the New World

A Cry for the New World is the fourth Praying Mantis studio album, released by Pony Canyon on 21 May 1993 as PCCY-00422. The band at this point was Mark Thompson-Smith on vocals, the Troy brothers, Dennis Stratton of Iron Maiden on guitar and Bruce Bisland on drums. It sits at the centre of the years when players out of Iron Maiden's orbit kept arriving here after the 1990 reunion in Japan, and Stratton stayed until 2007. Eleven songs, about sixty-two minutes, and from "Rise Up Again" to "The Final Eclipse" the twin harmony leads and the stacked vocals never let up. A four-track EP, Only the Children Cry, came out in Japan the same year, carrying "A Moment in Life" and "Turn the Tables" from this record. And the band's show at The Bottom Line in Nagoya on 24 November went on sale in Japan thirty-three years later, in 2026, as The Bottom Line Nagoya Japan 1993.
