Captured Alive in Tokyo City

Captured Alive in Tokyo City is a double live album from the band's Tokyo shows in November 1995, released by Pony Canyon on 21 March 1996 as PCCY-00902. It documents the tour behind To the Power of Ten, which had come out the previous August, and seven songs come from it: "Victory", "Bring on the Night", "To the Power of Ten", "Only the Children Cry", "Welcome to My Hollywood", "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" and "Angry Man". The rest is drawn from Time Tells No Lies and the two 1990s records, and it ends where the band's sets have ended since the 1979 demo — on "Captured City". Twenty songs across two CDs, about an hour and fifty-five minutes. The nineteenth is Girlschool's "Armed and Ready". Putting a contemporary's song from the same movement into the set says something clear about how this band sees where it came from. What streams is a twelve-track abridgement of the double album, shorter than the listing on this page. And given how much of this band's life has been spent in Japan, "Tokyo City" in the title is more than a place name.
