Look What the Cat Dragged In is the debut album, which brought Poison's light playing and instantly hummable choruses to the front. It is packed with a glamorous, party-filled sound by the four — Bret Michaels (vocals), C.C. DeVille (guitar), Bobby Dall (bass) and Rikki Rockett (drums) — who moved to Los Angeles after forming in Pennsylvania. DeVille's guitar is flashy yet supports the songs well, and Michaels's voice carries approachability.
"Talk Dirty to Me" and "I Want Action" join short riffs and big hooks without hesitation. "Talk Dirty to Me" became a US number 9 hit and quickly spread the band's name. Their first ballad, "I Won't Forget You," also reached number 13. Choosing release over seriousness, it is a record that condensed the fun of 1980s glam metal.
