Crack a Smile... and More! is a fraught fifth album that Poison finally released after many years. Its core songs were recorded from 1994 to 1995 with Blues Saraceno on guitar. The lineup adds Saraceno to Bret Michaels (vocals), Bobby Dall (bass) and Rikki Rockett (drums). Due to Michaels's car accident the album was shelved, and it was finally released in 2000 after fervent demand from fans.
The dynamism of "Best Thing You Ever Had" and the hook of "Be the One" convey the tight playing characteristic of this period. The Dr. Hook cover "Cover of the Rolling Stone" is also included. With a construction adding unreleased material and outtakes, it carefully fills in the record of an almost-lost period. A precious record for fans that bridges the gap of a blank period.
