LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Tragic Idol came out on Century Media Records on 24 April 2012 as 9981592, a day earlier outside North America. It was recorded partly at The Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire, England, and produced, as the previous album had been, by Jens Bogren; it was mastered at Fascination Street Studios, and the cover is by the Parisian designer Valnoir. It is the first studio album with Adrian Erlandsson, who joined in 2009, on drums.
Announcing it, Gregor Mackintosh said the record drew on classic doom metal and classic heavy metal: more melodic than its predecessor while keeping the weight, and full of guitar solos and melodies.
Besides the CD it came as a limited two-disc edition and a fan box, and the limited edition adds "Ending Through Changes" and "Never Take Me Alive", a Spear of Destiny cover. The Japanese edition came out on AVALON on 18 April 2012 as MICP-11046, with those two plus live versions of "True Belief", "One Second" and "Say Just Words" for fifteen tracks. The track list here is the original ten, and the player on this page carries the same ten.
