Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us

On 13 August 2008 the drummer Jeff Singer announced his departure on the band's official website. He wanted to be with his family, had a job coming up, and the South American tour then planned would have got in the way. The band cancelled those dates, then announced on 28 August that the tour was back on with Mark Heron of Oceansize taking over the drums. At the beginning of 2009 they recorded at Fascination Street Studios in Orebro, Sweden, with Jens Bogren producing. No permanent replacement for Singer had been found, so the Swedish drummer Peter Damin played on the record. On 16 March 2009, when recording was finished, the band recruited Adrian Erlandsson of At the Gates and formerly of Cradle of Filth as a full-time drummer. The title was announced on 18 June 2009, and Century Media Records released the album in Germany on 25 September, in the rest of Europe on 28 September and in the United States on 6 October. The band, formed in Halifax in 1988, are considered pioneers of death-doom and the main influence on gothic metal; the line-up of Nick Holmes on vocals, Greg Mackintosh and Aaron Aedy on guitars and Steve Edmondson on bass has stayed together for a long time. The running order here is the original's as printed.
