One Second

One Second came out on Music for Nations on 14 July 1997 as CDMFN 222. Sank (Ulf Sandqvist) produced it; it was recorded at Battery Studios and Rockfield Studios and mixed at MVG Studios by Stefan Glaumann and Sank. Lee Morris plays drums, Gregor Mackintosh adds keyboards and programming to his guitar, and Stefan Brisland-Ferner joins on strings. The biography the band published on their own site in 1999 calls it a top-ten album in many of Europe's main markets, and explains that the next record, Host, took its electronics further still. According to the artist profile of Marquee, their Japanese label in later years, this album and Draconian Times before it were each followed by concerts in Japan. The Japanese edition came out on 18 July 1997 as PCCY-01142, adding "I Despair", "Cruel One", a cover of The Smiths' "How Soon Is Now?" and "Albino Flogged in Black" for sixteen tracks. The track list here is the original twelve. The player on this page carries fourteen, but the last two, "How Soon Is Now?" and "Albino Flogged in Black", do not play in this territory. A 20th anniversary edition followed on 14 July 2017.
