Power Metal
Power Metal is a useful way to hear PANTERA from a different angle within the 1988 catalogue.

Liner Notes
Power Metal is the fourth album on which PANTERA, welcoming new vocalist Phil Anselmo, steered greatly toward a heavier, more aggressive direction. Anselmo’s powerful singing, joining in place of the previous Terry Glaze, transformed the band’s sound. It is an important record that bridged the glam period to the later destructive style.
As the title suggests, on this record speed and heaviness are pushed to the fore. Dimebag Darrell’s guitar gains sharpness and, together with Anselmo’s roar, radiates an aggression that foreshadows the later PANTERA. Glam-like elements still remain, but the sound clearly heads toward a new era. It is a record that carved a decisive transitional period, just before the band found its true form.
