LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Andy Sneap produced, engineered, mixed and mastered it. This is the first Nevermore record made with seven-string guitars, and that changes both the weight of the low end and the way Jeff Loomis writes a line. Warrel Dane sings, Jim Sheppard plays bass and Van Williams drums.
The subjects run from an attack on the penalties for drug possession to an outright rejection of religion, and the album is often compared to a darker, heavier Queensryche. "The River Dragon Has Come" is about the 1975 Banqiao Dam failure and blames human error for it. The version of Simon and Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence" is rebuilt entirely in the band's own sound.
One single was taken from it, "Believe in Nothing", which All That Remains covered on Overcome in 2008 and Firewind on Century Media's Covering 20 Years of Extremes. In 2005 Rock Hard placed the album at number 361 in its book The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time. The limited-edition bonus track "Chances Three" had already been recorded on a 1990 Sanctuary demo and on a 1992 Nevermore demo. The running order here is the original's as printed.
