Regressus is the second album on which MYSTIC PROPHECY bound low guitar riffs, high-heat vocals and heroic choruses. While having power metal’s drive, the sound does not go light, keeping a heavy-metal pressure throughout. It is a record that pushed the debut’s direction more powerfully.
On “Calling from Hell,” “Lords of Pain” and “Sign of the Cross,” aggressive phrases and memorable melody mesh closely, and the work has an honest drive. Songs like “Eternal Flame,” “The Traveller” and “Mystic Prophecy” breathe the band’s full playing too. Gus G.’s sharp guitar work also makes a great contribution to the work. It is a full record of orthodox metal that plays with a hard feel.
