Another Perfect Day is the fifth Motörhead album, from 1983, and the most argued-over record in their history. The reason is plain: after "Fast" Eddie Clarke left, the guitarist who came in was Brian Robertson, formerly of Thin Lizzy, and this is the only album the band made with him.
Whether Lemmy and Philthy Animal Taylor's raw force and the melodic hard rock Robertson brought with him actually fit together is the question people have put to it from the start. What has never been in doubt is the sound: with Tony Platt producing, it is counted among the best-sounding things the band ever put out. The arpeggiated lines on "Dancing on Your Grave" and "Shine" were a shock by Motörhead's own standards, and the fact that both stayed in the live set for years afterwards says what they were worth.
The fortieth-anniversary edition is two discs and thirty-four tracks. The first holds new masters of the ten album songs, "Turn You Round Again" from the B-side of "I Got Mine", the two live recordings from the B-side of "Shine", and four demos -- "Climber", "Fast One", "Chinese" and an instrumental take of "Climber". The second is a complete seventeen-song show from Hull City Hall on 22 June 1983, which is the other thing this edition is for: a full performance by this line-up, at this moment.
Sanctuary Records released it on 3 November 2023. There is no Japanese edition.
