Dr. Feelgood is a work on which MÖTLEY CRÜE obtained thick, tight riffs and a more three-dimensional ensemble. The low center of gravity made by Nikki Sixx’s bass, Tommy Lee’s drums and Mick Mars’s guitar strongly supports Vince Neil’s singing. Welcoming producer Bob Rock and reaching number one on the US chart, it is the band’s biggest hit. On “Dr. Feelgood,” “Kickstart My Heart” and “Without You,” from the title track’s aggression to the ballads, the album keeps each song’s personality while making a great flow. Songs like “Same Ol' Situation (S.O.S.)” and “Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)” breathe the band’s full playing too. Keeping the band’s dangerous appeal, they raised the precision of the playing and sound. Reaching the summit both commercially and artistically, it is the band’s signature work.
