DISILLUSION (English Version)

Disillusion (English Version) is the English-language edition of the album Loudness had released that January, issued on 1 July 1984. The track list is the same, but Minoru Niihara re-recorded every vocal in English. The band was solidly established at home by then, and after their first overseas shows in 1983 a contract with Atlantic Records was in negotiation; this record was the practical move toward crossing the language barrier. Remaking the same album in two languages is a method the band returned to with Hurricane Eyes in 1987 and Racing in 2004. It shows how early Loudness had to confront a question that never entirely went away: which language the songs should be sung in.
