In a Reverie

After recording the EP the band replaced both guitarists and the drummer. With Cristiano Migliore on guitar and Cristiano Mozzati on drums, both recruited in January 1998, the five-piece went back to Woodhouse Studio in Hagen in October and November 1998 to make a first full-length album with Waldemar Sorychta. The band's early website remembers the sessions as hard going but very rewarding. Marco Biazzi, the second guitarist, joined only in January 1999, after the recording, so Migliore plays every guitar part here. Sorychta played all of the keyboards. Most of the music came from Migliore and Marco Coti Zelati and the lyrics from Andrea Ferro and Cristina Scabbia, with Valerie Lynch adapting the English of five songs. "To Myself I Turned" has music by Sorychta and words by Scabbia, who sings it alone. The closing "Falling Again" is a reworking of "Falling" from the EP. Century Media released the album in Europe in February 1999. Its first concert was a release show at the Rolling Stone in Milan in front of more than 1,500 people, and the American edition followed in June. Over the year the band toured Europe with Skyclad, joined Samael and Grip Inc. on the Into the Darkness tour, played Dynamo Open Air and, at home in Milan, Gods of Metal on a bill that included Metallica, and in the autumn supported Lacrimosa in Germany. Century Media reissued the album in 2005.
