The Devil You Know is the twelfth L.A. Guns studio album and the second Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns made after reuniting. King Records' Metal Frontier imprint released the Japanese edition on 13 March 2019 as KICP-1974 at ¥2,860 including tax; Frontiers' international edition followed on 29 March.
Where The Missing Peace had put the lift of the reunion straight onto tape, this record is heavier, and more of its songs lead with a riff rather than a vocal. Frontiers' channel made a music video for the title track.
The international edition carries "Boom" as its eleventh song and bonus; the Japanese one adds a live version of "Killing Machine" on top of it, for twelve tracks. "Killing Machine" comes from Vicious Circle in 1994, so the current band is reaching back across a quarter of a century for it.
