Checkered Past is the thirteenth L.A. Guns studio album, released by Frontiers Music on 12 November 2021 — two and a half years after The Devil You Know, and made across the pandemic.
Eleven songs, about forty-five minutes. The opener, "Cannonball", became a fixture near the top of the set afterwards and is the second song of the 2025 Guild Theatre concert. Frontiers' channel posted music videos for "Cannonball" and "Get Along", a lyric video for "Let You Down" and an official audio track for "Knock Me Down".
Marquee Incorporated released the Japanese edition on the same day, 12 November, as MICP-11659 at ¥2,970 including tax, adding an acoustic mix of "Get Along" for twelve tracks.
