LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Shrinking Violet is the sixth L.A. Guns studio album, released in 1999. It is the only studio record the band made without Phil Lewis: Jizzy Pearl of Love/Hate sang on it. The Japanese edition came out on 24 July 1999 as ZACB-1008.
Twelve songs. The run from "Girl You Turn Me On" into the title track is the hard rock the band had always made, but a different singer opens up room elsewhere — "California" and "Dreamtime" do not sound like anything before them. The closer, "How Many More Times", shares its title with the Led Zeppelin song.
One thing is worth knowing: what streams today is the 2010 Deluxe Reissue, and that is a different record. It drops "Decide", "It's Hard" and "How Many More Times" and adds five live tracks, for fourteen in all. The running order on this page is the 1999 album's. Phil Lewis returned in 2001 for Man in the Moon.
