Shockwave Supernova

This is the fifteenth studio album, released on 24 July 2015 through Sony Music's Legacy imprint as 88875099682, fifteen tracks. Sony Music International issued the Japanese edition on 22 July as the Blu-spec CD2 SICP-30759. Satriani has explained where the title came from. On the road for the previous album, Unstoppable Momentum, he noticed how often he was playing the guitar with his teeth, and daydreamed an alter ego who was making him do it. That alter ego is Shockwave Supernova. The band is Bryan Beller on bass and Marco Minnemann on drums, both of The Aristocrats, with the multi-instrumentalist Mike Keneally. Stephen Thomas Erlewine at AllMusic called the record proud egghead music that grooves on its own technical acumen, and said it feels like a collaborative album: as much fun to hear him play with his band as to hear him soar on his own. The running order here is the import CD's as printed.
