Unstoppable Momentum

This is the fourteenth studio album, released by Epic on 7 May 2013 as 88765482852, eleven tracks; the Japanese edition followed on 26 June as EICP 1579. It reached number 42 on the Billboard 200 and stayed on the chart for three weeks. Recording ran from late 2012 into early 2013. Chris Chaney of Jane's Addiction played bass, and his account of it is worth repeating: with Mike Keneally, a keyboardist and all-round multi-instrumentalist who had played with Frank Zappa for years, and Vinnie Colaiuta, one of his favourite drummers of all time, they went up to Skywalker Ranch in the Bay Area for about two weeks and cut a song or two a day. Satriani, he said, is a prolific musician and incredibly cool, and it was a lot of fun. A full-length preview of A Door into Summer was posted at Premier Guitar on 8 April 2013 alongside a review of the album. Touring began in Europe from May to July and continued in North America from August to October. The running order here is the import CD's as printed.
