What Happens Next

This is the sixteenth studio album, released on 12 January 2018 through Sony Music's Legacy imprint as 88985450972. Sony Music International issued the Japanese edition two days earlier, on 10 January, as the Blu-spec CD SICP-31133. Satriani deliberately turned away from the alien alter ego of the previous record, Shockwave Supernova. This time, he has said, he wrote about a human being, two feet on the ground, heart pumping, with emotions, dreams and hopes; that seemed to be the direction he was really yearning for. He has called it an internal artistic rebirth. He made it with Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on drums, Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple on bass and the producer Mike Fraser. Both players are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. With the conceptual weight stripped away, what is left is the drive of a power trio. The running order here is the import CD's as printed.
