Liner Notes
Twelve Shots on the Rocks is Hanoi Rocks' comeback album, on which they once again struck sparks of punk momentum and glamorous rock'n'roll. After a long time since the 1985 breakup, it is the first album from Michael Monroe and Andy McCoy's reunion with new members. On drums they brought in Lacu, who had supported Monroe's solo career, and the raw energy of old was revived. After the breakup, Monroe had left his mark through a solo career and bands like Demolition 23. This reunion was framed not as a mere revival but as a rebirth.
Spirited songs like "People Like Me," "A Day Late, A Dollar Short" and "Whatcha Want" line up. A rawness reminiscent of the early days, showing no sign of the long gap, runs throughout. The album reached No. 17 on the Finnish charts. A powerful comeback record on which they refused to rest on past glory and once again sounded their own rock'n'roll. A new lineup, with Costello on guitar and Timpa on bass, gathered under Monroe and McCoy. Their first new album in some 17 years was warmly welcomed by many fans.
