Liner Notes
Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks is the debut by Hanoi Rocks, formed in Helsinki, Finland. Mixing the sharpness of punk with the glamour of glam, they play free-spirited rock'n'roll, and would go on to hugely influence the 1980s glam metal scene. Michael Monroe and Andy McCoy produced it under the name "The Muddy Twins." The lineup at this time was Monroe and McCoy alongside Nasty Suicide, Sam Yaffa and Gyp Casino.
It brims with a raw, dangerous appeal in the lineage of the New York Dolls. Spirited songs like "Tragedy," "11th Street Kids" and "Lost in the City" line up. Recording took place in Stockholm, Sweden. A landmark first step as the first Finnish band to break out onto the world stage. A record marking the dawn of a legend cited as an influence by the likes of Guns N' Roses and Mötley Crüe. They would go on to become the first Finnish band to chart in the UK, and gained a strong following in Japan.
