Back to Mystery City
Back to Mystery City moves like a run through city nights, driven by lean guitar, bouncing beat and Michael Monroe’s voice—both glamorous and rough around the edges.

Liner Notes
Back to Mystery City is Hanoi Rocks' fourth album, on which they sounded a dangerous, flamboyant appeal by mixing the heat of glam, punk and rock'n'roll. It is also the first real studio album with drummer Razzle, who had joined the previous year. Recording took place at Park Gate Studios in England, and Dale Griffin and Overend Watts of Mott the Hoople produced it.
Tight songs like "Malibu Beach Nightmare," "Until I Get You" and "Mental Beat" line up. Keeping the rawness of the early works, they stepped into a punchier, more refined style. Morgan Fisher joined on keyboards. Producers Griffin and Watts were both the rhythm section of Mott the Hoople, and their experience gives the sound depth. Most of the songs were written by McCoy. A record announcing a fruitful period for the band, resonating with the rising tide of pop metal. Expectations for the band were rising worldwide around this time, with tours reaching places like Israel and Japan.
