LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Elation is Great White's twelfth studio album, released by Frontiers Records in North America on 22 May 2012, with the European release a few days earlier. It was the band's first album since parting with founding singer Jack Russell, and the first Great White studio record sung by Terry Ilous, the singer of XYZ, who had joined the band in 2010. The rest of the line-up was lead guitarist Mark Kendall, guitarist and keyboard player Michael Lardie, bassist Scott Snyder and drummer Audie Desbrow. Lardie produced the album, and the sleeve lists Kendall as co-producer, names Vivid Tone as the studio and credits Dave Donnelly at DNA Mastering with the mastering, with every song written by Great White. Desbrow had wanted to call the record "Tabula Rasa", meaning a rebirth, but the band settled on Elation because of the euphoria around the sessions. Kendall pointed out that this was their third record with Frontiers and thanked the label for its support, while Lardie said that what set these sessions apart was that every member was fully engaged and had a hand in the result. Of the twelve songs, "Lowdown", at number nine, is marked as a bonus track on the back of the European digipak and on the band's own discography. Marquee's Avalon label issued the Japanese edition on 23 May 2012 with an acoustic remix of "Hard to Say Goodbye" added as a bonus track. The album sold about 1,000 copies in the United States in its first week. In February 2013 Frontiers followed it with Elation (George Tutko Remixes), twelve tracks remixed by George Tutko, and with the live album 30 Years - Live from the Sunset Strip.
