Ian McDonald and Al Greenwood departed, tightening the group into a four-piece: Jones, Gramm, Rick Wills (bass) and Dennis Elliott (drums). Producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange, then in high demand, was brought in, and an airtight sound was pursued.
