LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Genexus came out on 7 August 2015 on Nuclear Blast, recorded through 2014 and 2015 and produced by the band with Rhys Fulber and Andy Sneap. Chaos Reigns issued the Japanese edition the same day as GQCS-90025.
Burton C. Bell sings, Dino Cazares plays guitar and bass and Mike Heller plays drums. The previous album had programmed drums throughout; here Heller plays several of the songs himself, which Cazares described at the time as a way of getting a live feel back into the record.
The subjects are war, climate change, religion and mortality. The title fuses gene and genesis and points past the line between the machine and the person.
Three songs went out ahead of it, each with a video: "Soul Hacker", "Protomech" and "Dielectric". It reached number thirty-seven on the American Billboard 200 and number two on the British rock and metal chart.
The album is ten songs. The player on this page carries the twelve-track master, which appends the limited digipak's two bonus pieces, "Mandatory Sacrifice (Genexus Remix)" and "Enhanced Reality".
