LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
The eighth studio album, issued in 2012 on dates that differ by territory: Warner Music Japan on 30 May as WPCR-14465, AFM in Europe on 1 June and Candlelight in North America on 5 June. Rhys Fulber produced it with the band.
Only two members are credited — Burton C. Bell on vocals and Dino Cazares on guitar and bass — and nobody plays the drums. They are programmed, by John Sankey of Devolved. Gene Hoglan, who had played on the previous album, had no part in this one and has since said that he learned he was no longer needed from a news site.
Bell built the record around an automaton: a machine that is industry itself, and that begins to become sentient as it gathers memories day by day.
It reached number thirty-eight on the American Billboard 200, number two on the hard rock albums chart and number four on the British rock and metal chart. Ten songs. A re-recording with live drums, Re-Industrialized, followed in 2023. The running order here is that of the standard Candlelight pressing, CDL0521CD.
