Origins

Origins moves Dark Moor away from the science-fiction focus of its predecessor toward Celtic lore and images of nature. Classical keyboards, graceful guitar and Alfred Romero’s voice meet flutes and folk-colored textures to create a fantasy landscape. “Birth of the Sun” and “The Spectres Dance” keep the grandeur of symphonic metal while giving soft, memorable melody real priority. It is less an album that wins through brute force than one that tells its stories through atmosphere. The band’s romantic side is especially clear here.
