Origins

DARK MOORの『Origins』は、SF色の強かった前作から視線を移し、ケルト世界の伝承や自然のイメージへ向かった作品だ。クラシカルな鍵盤、優雅なギター、アルフレッド・ロメロの歌声に、笛や民俗的な質感が加わり、幻想的な景色を作る。 “Birth of the Sun”“The Spectres Dance”などは、シンフォニック・メタルの壮麗さを保ちながら、柔らかなメロディを大切にしている。重さで押し切るよりも、物語と空気を聴かせるタイプの作品。バンドの持つロマンティックな側面がよく表れた一枚だ。 ここで大切なのは、目立つリフやサビだけでなく、音の重さ、リズムの呼吸、歌の表情が曲順の中でどう変化するかである。各パートは単独で主張するためではなく、次のメロディや感情の高まりを強く聞かせるために置かれている。 音量を上げれば低域の圧力や細かなアタックが見え、繰り返し聴けばアレンジの余白とフレーズの受け渡しが浮かび上がる。作品全体を通して聴くことで、単曲では見えにくい緊張と解放の流れもはっきり感じられる。 こうした細部が、楽曲ごとの個性を保ちながら一枚のまとまりへ結び付けている。強さだけでなく、旋律と音色の陰影まで味わえることが、このアルバムを長く聴き返したくなる理由である。

Origins moves Dark Moor away from the science-fiction focus of its predecessor toward Celtic lore and images of nature. Classical keyboards, graceful guitar and Alfred Romero’s voice meet flutes and folk-colored textures to create a fantasy landscape. “Birth of the Sun” and “The Spectres Dance” keep the grandeur of symphonic metal while giving soft, memorable melody real priority. It is less an album that wins through brute force than one that tells its stories through atmosphere. The band’s romantic side is especially clear here. This expanded liner entry keeps the existing album-specific perspective, then places it within the full listening experience: the way texture, dynamics and sequencing make each section lead into the next. It is intended to preserve the record’s identity while giving its musical flow and emotional detail more room to register.
