Ars Musica

Ars Musica is a work on which DARK MOOR drew a fantastical metal world through melody evoking classical music, symphonic keyboards and refined guitar work. The songs are gorgeously ornamented, but at the center is melody that is memorable as song. As the title, meaning “the art of music,” suggests, it is a record full of classical grace. On “Ars Musica,” “First Lance of Spain” and “The Road Again,” from songs with a sense of speed to lyrical scenes, the color of the sound changes richly. Songs like “Gara & Jonay,” “El Ultimo Rey” and “Asturias” breathe the band’s full playing too. References to Spanish history and culture are also scattered throughout. It is a full record for when one wants to savor power metal with narrative and classical grace.
