The Principle of Evil Made Flesh

It was released on 24 February 1994 on Cacophonous Records, following three demos made between 1991 and 1993. It was recorded between September and November 1993 at Academy Music Studio in Dewsbury and produced by Robert "Mags" Magoolagan. The sound is far rawer than anything that came after it, and Dani Filth's singing is not yet the style he would settle into. Welding gothic metal to black metal was an unusual thing to do in 1994, and that combination is where this band begins. It is the only album with the guitarist Paul Ryan and the keyboard player Benjamin Ryan. The guitarist Paul Allender also left at this point and came back five years later for Midian. Several of its songs were later re-recorded for V Empire, Bitter Suites to Succubi and Midnight in the Labyrinth. Thirteen tracks, 52 minutes and 34 seconds.
