Society's Pact With Satan is the last recording Cathedral ever made: a half-hour piece taped in 2012 at the end of the sessions for their final album, The Last Spire. It was not mixed at the time and was all but forgotten until producer Jaime Gomez Arellano came across it while sorting through his old studio recordings; once the band heard it they agreed it should be released. Gomez Arellano mixed it in 2025, and Lee Dorrian's Rise Above Records released it on 3 October 2025 on CD, LP and digitally. The single track runs to about half an hour, its two halves split across the sides of the LP. The lyric accuses the rulers of the world's nations of having made a pact with Satan, moves through war and plague, dictators, bankers and the media, pictures working people as cogs in a machine, and ends with humanity destroying itself. The label presented it as the band's final sermon: macabre observation, musical eccentricity, brutal riffs and arcane self-indulgence. The players are the final line-up of Lee Dorrian, Garry Jennings, Scott Carlson and Brian Dixon. Rise Above Records published a trailer and the full-length track with its lyrics on video. Trooper Entertainment's Japanese edition followed on 27 May 2026, with the Japanese word for despair added to its title, lyrics, a Japanese translation, liner notes and a cover sticker.
