Mafia

Mafia is a work centered on thick, distorted guitar and heavy groove, on which Zakk Wylde’s hoarse singing rings strongly. Within its linear heavy rock, acoustic shadow and blues feel remain. The pressure of the riffs and the loneliness of the melody intersect, showing a wide-ranging expression that never ends as mere brute force. On “Fire It Up,” “Suicide Messiah” and “Death March,” heavy riffs and aggression come to the front. In particular, the ballad “In This River” is known as a song dedicated to his close friend Dimebag Darrell of Pantera, who met a tragic end, striking many listeners with its deep mourning and beautiful melody.
