glory

glory is a two-song single released by Nippon Crown on 16 January 2019. It forms a pair with Bubble, issued the same day, and takes the hard, fast side of that pairing. The title song is built from a straight-line riff and an equally direct chorus. On CONQUEROR that December it was placed second, following the opening 'PAGE', and given the job of setting the record's speed. Heard inside the album's flow rather than on its own, the reason it sits so early becomes obvious. An official music video was made for it. The coupling, 'hide-and-seek', answers the A-side's directness with a song that works through its changes instead. Two songs across roughly seven minutes is about the shortest BAND-MAID have made a single, and the brevity leaves both outlines sharply drawn. Releasing it alongside Bubble had the effect of making each record explain the other. Put side by side, the two show that the band could write the fast side and the bouncing side at the same strength in this period. The title song was collected on 10th Anniversary Best Vol.1 in 2023.
