Liner Notes
A Road to Depression is the second album, delivered in 2010, and so far the last. The line-up moved: Emma Gelotte left in 2009 and Jonna Sailon took her place. And Jesper Strömblad does not play on this record — he contributed to the writing, but made none of the sound himself. Roberto Laghi, who had worked on In Flames records, produced. Only the two-female-voices shape survived; the substance quietly changed underneath it.
Pre-production was finished by October 2009, and on 11 January 2010 the band revealed two titles: “Nobody's Story” and “I'm a Monster.” On 6 July the release date was announced. Cold gothic air, and the rise and fall the two voices weave through it — a record that carries the darkness its title promises. A long silence followed. In 2012 the band left one line: we are alive, guys, just on a break to broaden life's views a little bit. In 2016, Björn Gelotte said the project was essentially dead. The limited digipak, incidentally, ran to thirteen tracks with the last two as bonuses, and came with a second booklet carrying nothing but the members' thank-you notes.
