LANGUAGE
1997年の終わり、クリストフェル・リッグは鍵盤奏者で作曲家のトーレ・イルヴィザカーを迎え入れ、二人で「ブレイクのアルバム」の構想を練った。出来上がったのは、ウィリアム・ブレイクの詩『天国と地獄の結婚』を丸ごと音楽にした作品である。曲の区切りはブレイクの版画の丁付けにそのまま従っており、曲名がその番号になっている。
音の内訳は電子音、インダストリアル、プログレッシヴ・メタル、実験的なロック、そして環境音楽。ブラック・メタルの美学は跡形もない。リッグはこれを第二章、あるいは新しい出発と呼び、自分が技術と計算機の扱いを身につけた時期と重なっていたため、音楽で新しいことができるようになったのだと述べている。制作はリッグ、クヌート・マグネ・ヴァッレ、イルヴィザカーの三人。スティーネ・グリトイル、EMPERORのイーサーンとサモス、DARKTHRONEのフェンリズが歌で参加している。
方向の急転に批評は驚いたが、評価は高かった。テラライザー誌、メタル・ハマー誌、ロック・ハード誌がいずれも月間最優秀作に選び、年間の投票でも上位に入っている。ここに収めた曲目はオリジナル盤の表記どおりである。
