Forever More is a record on which TESLA, while keeping its raw band feel, added more shadowed melody and weighty guitars. Jeff Keith’s gritty voice shows not only strength but an introspective expression, deepening the songs’ emotion. As an original album coming after a covers record, the band presents the bluesy hard rock it excels at in an even more matured form. On the title track “Forever More” and on “I Wanna Live,” “Breakin' Free” and “All of Me,” there is no strain between riff-driven songs and calmer numbers, and the playing always holds together as a single band. A song like “Pvt. Ledbetter” carries a narrative depth too. Playing the hard-rock foundation with a persuasiveness only a seasoned band has, it is a flavorful record conveying the fullness of the post-reunion TESLA, with a composure and heat backed by long experience harmonizing pleasantly throughout.
