Excess All Areas is a work that wrapped SHY’s high singing ability and melodic sense in glittering keyboards and a well-ordered guitar sound. While the songs are catchy, the rhythm and arrangement have fine variation, so they do not end as mere lightness. Renowned as the band’s masterpiece, it is a representative record. On “Emergency,” “Can't Fight the Nights” and “Break Down the Walls,” big choruses and careful playing give the whole album an arena-rock breadth. In particular, “Emergency” is a classic representative of the band. Songs like “Young Heart” and “Devil Woman” breathe the band’s full playing too.
