『Killhammer』は、MYSTIC PROPHECYが鋭いギター・リフ、重いリズム、力強いヴォーカルを積み重ね、硬派なパワー・メタルを鳴らした作品だ。曲は直線的だが、サビには大きなメロディがあり、攻撃性と歌心が拮抗している。本作では、よりスラッシュ・メタルに接近した攻撃的なサウンドが際立っている。 “Killhammer”“Armies Of Hell”“Kill The Beast”といった楽曲では、テンポの速い曲でも重さを失わず、ミドルテンポではリフの圧力がより際立っている。アイアン・メイデンの“Children Of The Damned”や、オジー・オズボーンの“Crazy Train”のカヴァーも収録されている。“Hate Black”“300 In Blood”“Set The World On Fire”のような楽曲にも、バンドの充実した演奏が息づいている。“To Hell And Back”“Angels Of Fire”“When The Night Falls”のような楽曲にも、バンドの充実した演奏が息づいている。本作以降バンドはよりスラッシーで攻撃的なサウンドを前面に押し出していき、パワー・メタルとスラッシュ・メタルの融合がいっそう鮮明になった充実作だ。拳を上げたくなる正統派メタルを求める人に応える、充実した一枚だ。

Killhammer is a work on which MYSTIC PROPHECY stacked sharp guitar riffs, heavy rhythm and powerful vocals, sounding hard-nosed power metal. The songs are linear, but the choruses have big melody, with aggression and melodic sense in balance. On this record, a more thrash-metal-leaning aggressive sound stands out. On “Killhammer,” “Armies Of Hell” and “Kill The Beast,” even the fast songs do not lose weight, and in mid-tempo the pressure of the riffs stands out more. Covers of Iron Maiden’s “Children Of The Damned” and Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” are also included. Songs like “Hate Black,” “300 In Blood” and “Set The World On Fire” breathe the band’s full playing too. It is a full record answering those who seek fist-raising orthodox metal.
