『Last Autumn's Dream』は、LAST AUTUMN'S DREAMが、滑らかで甘いヴォーカル、抑制の効いた美しいギター、そして、きらめくような鍵盤を重ね合わせ、穏やかでありながらも力強い、北欧メロディック・ロックを作り上げた、鮮烈なデビュー作だ。元フェア・ウォーニングのアンディ・マレチェクと、伸びやかな歌声を持つミカエル・アーランドソンとが中心となって結成された本作は、その甘美で叙情的なメロディで、AORファンから、高い支持を得た。楽曲は、派手に攻め込むよりも、あくまで、歌の旋律と、アンサンブルの、確かな心地よさとを、丁寧に積み上げていく。 冒頭を飾る、爽快な“Rise An' Shine”の力強い推進力、そして“Go!”のドラマ性、さらに“Siren”のような曲まで、収録曲は、いずれも聴き応えがある。“Turn It Up”“Shadows of the Night”のような曲も、作品の充実を伝えている。ミカエル・アーランドソンの、温かく伸びやかな歌声が、全編で力強く冴え渡っている。 北欧ハード・ロックならではの、あの開放感と、AORの、繊細で美しい叙情性とが、極めて自然に溶け合い、作品全体に、大人びた、確かな温度が漂っている一枚だ。この後、バンドは、驚異的なペースで、数多くの良質な作品を発表していくことになる。長く聴き続けられる、確かな美点を持った、上質で力強い出発点と言える。バンドの原点がここにある。

Last Autumn's Dream is a vivid debut on which Last Autumn's Dream, layering smooth, sweet vocals, restrained beautiful guitar and sparkling keyboards, builds a calm yet powerful Nordic melodic rock. Made with the ex-Fair Warning Andy Malecek and the soaring-voiced Mikael Erlandsson at the center, it gained high support from AOR fans with its sweet, lyrical melody. The songs, rather than attacking flashily, carefully build up the vocal melody and the sure comfort of the ensemble. From the powerful drive of the refreshing opener “Rise An’ Shine” and the drama of “Go!” to a cut like “Siren,” every song is engaging, while cuts like “Turn It Up” and “Shadows of the Night” convey the work’s fullness. Mikael Erlandsson’s warm, soaring voice is powerfully in sharp form throughout. A record on which the openness particular to Nordic hard rock and the delicate, beautiful lyricism of AOR melt extremely naturally, and a mature, sure warmth hangs over the whole work.
