『A Touch of Heaven』は、LAST AUTUMN'S DREAMが、温かく甘いヴォーカル、柔らかで美しいキーボード、そして優美なメロディを重ね合わせた、充実の北欧AOR作だ。ハード・ロックとしての、確かな輪郭を、しっかりと残しつつも、楽曲は、決して急ぐことなく、その熟練した演奏で、大人びた、豊かな情感を、丁寧に、そして力強く運んでいく。冒頭には、スウェーデンの名ベーシスト、故マルセル・ヤコブへの追悼を捧げた、感動的な楽曲が置かれている。バンドの、円熟した歌心が光る一枚である。 冒頭“Heaven & Earth - A Requiem To Marcel Jacob”のドラマ性、そして“Caught in Between”の力強い推進力、さらに“Top of the World”のような曲まで、収録曲は、いずれも聴き応えがある。“Candle in the Dark”“Come Rain or Shine”“Heartbreaker”のような曲も、作品の充実を伝えている。ミカエル・アーランドソンの、温かい歌声が光っている。 大きく、劇的なドラマよりも、あくまで、美しいメロディの、確かな心地よさと、その穏やかで深い余韻とに、じっくりと浸りたい時にこそ、実によく似合う一枚だ。北欧AORならではの、その優美で洗練された魅力が、全編に満ちている。プロリフィックなキャリアの中でも、その質は、少しも落ちていない。上質で聴き応えのある、充実のメロディック・ロック作品と言える。バンドの安定感が光る一枚だ。

A Touch of Heaven is a fulfilling Nordic AOR work on which Last Autumn's Dream layers warm, sweet vocals, soft, beautiful keyboards and graceful melody. While firmly keeping a sure outline as hard rock, the songs, never hurrying, carry mature, rich emotion carefully and powerfully with mature playing. At the opening is a moving song dedicated as a requiem to the late Swedish master bassist Marcel Jacob. A record where the band’s mature songcraft shines. From the drama of the opener “Heaven & Earth – A Requiem To Marcel Jacob” and the powerful drive of “Caught in Between” to a cut like “Top of the World,” every song is engaging, while cuts like “Candle in the Dark,” “Come Rain or Shine” and “Heartbreaker” convey the work’s fullness. Mikael Erlandsson’s warm voice shines. A record that truly suits when you want to carefully immerse in the sure comfort of beautiful melody and its calm, deep afterglow, rather than big, dramatic drama.
